Donna Larsen
President
1L, Section A
|
|
Donna Larsen started the SU Criminal Justice Society in the fall of 2007. She hopes the club will provide education, opportunity and camaraderie for students interested in the criminal justice field. In the past Donna has been a volunteer Protection Order Advocate for the King County Prosecutor's Office at the Kent Regional Justice Center and a Crime Victim Advocate at the Lane County DA’s Office.
She enjoys attending trials and keeping up with the latest Puget Sound crime news. Before getting into law school she started a website to blog the trials she attended called Trial Diary and was interviewed on Court TV.
Donna is interested in diversion programs and hopes becoming a lawyer will allow her to study and implement newer diversion program such as drug courts and prostitution courts in areas that don’t currently have any.

Beverly Yuodelis
Vice President
1L, Section C
|
|
Beverly Yuodelis is a graduate of the Fairhaven College Law and Diversity Program (LDP). She joined the Criminal Justice Society (CJS) because of her passion for social justice and her desire to make positive reforms in the legal system. This year one of her goals is to help build CJS into a valuable resource for SU law students interested in making a difference in the field of criminal justice.
Beverly is very interested in how advocates for social justice can work within government to create change. Beverly has worked as a intern for the Washington State House of Representatives and the Washington American Civil Liberties Union and is interested in pursuing future internships in the field of criminal justice.
Some of Beverly's interests in legal scholarship include Critical Race Feminism and Civil Rights and Liberties. Beverly will use her law degree (expected 2010) to work for greater access to justice and help address the unmet needs of marginalized groups in our society.

Chelsey McLean
Secretary
1L, Section B
|
|
Chelsey joined the SU Criminal Justice Society as a way to possibly get involved with juvenile advocacy. Prior to law school, she attended the University of Denver and majored in marketing. Having taken classes on the juvenile court while in college, she wants to pursue this area of law and make connections to learn about experiences within this arena. She believes in the system that is focused on rehabilitation and would like to help change the direction of young people who have gotten in trouble with the law so early on.

Kaylynn joined the SU Criminal Justice Society as a way to explore a possible future in prosecution. |
|
Loren Rigsby graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Political Science and English. Jenna Grant
Events Coordinator
1L/Section C
|
|
I joined SU CJS to gain more exposure to the Social Justice network in Seattle and the issues unique to the area.
Prior to entering law school, I spent a year working as a full-time volunteer youth care worker in Chicago, Illinois, at a residential facility for boys ages 11-18. Through daily contact with the youth, their families, their schools, and their neighborhoods I experienced the vast societal gap in equality and the subsequent vulnerability of the youth and their families.
I am dedicated to pursuing a legal career in which I can provide justice for those who have been wronged as well as for those who have strayed.

Sarah Hoffman
Fund Raising Chair
1L, Section C
|
|
Sarah was recruited into the Criminal Justice Club by the president in order to take over the job as Fund Raising Chair. She has previous criminal justice experience from her work with a community court. In her spare time (like any law school student has spare time) Sarah enjoys spending time with her daughter Sophia, reading compulsively and doing most anything "new age-y." She enjoys exploring her options in the criminal justice field and the CJS has given her a chance to do that.
