HURRICANE CARTER BACK IN THE RING TO FIGHT FOR JUSTICE

Famous boxer and his group, Innocence International, to appear in Seattle on behalf of Atif Rafay and Sebastian Burns

Dr. Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, who spent almost 20 years in jail after being wrongly convicted of a triple murder, believes Atif Rafay and Sebastian Burns are experiencing the same injustice. Rafay and Burns are currently serving life sentences for the murders of Rafay's mother, father and sister.

On March 4, Carter will be a special guest at the University of Washington School of Law screening of MR.BIG, a documentary produced by Sebastian's sister, Tiffany Burns. The screening, at 7pm, is co-hosted by the Innocence Project NW Students Chapter and the Seattle University Criminal Justice Society.

MR.BIG is named for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police sting that has resulted in many false confessions to murder. The documentary follows the story of several people who have been unjustly imprisoned because of the undercover operation. It also follows the Rafay-Burns case, where their confession was admitted into an American court of law, even though the U.S. legal system considers the Mr.Big sting illegal entrapment.

"Powerful, explosive and revealing. Canada has now become the breeding ground for false confessions and wrongful convictions. You've got to see this film," said Dr. Carter.

"Americans should be concerned, because Mr.Big evidence has been allowed in a US courtroom," said filmmaker Tiffany Burns.

As part of their appeal, Sebastian Burns and Atif Rafay file their PRP March 14, 2008.
